Jackson State shuts out Gold Nuggets for first time

        JACKSON, Miss. — Jackson State won the doubles point and three singles matches Friday in a 4-0 women's tennis victory against Xavier University of Louisiana.
        It was the first time in 10 all-time meetings that the Tigers (1-4) shut out the Gold Nuggets (2-4).
        Kayleigh Didderiens clinched on the third singles court when she defeated McKenna Wheatley 6-3, 6-2.
        Jackson State is an NCAA Division I member and shared rhe SWAC regular-season championship in 2024. XULA is a longtime NAIA member and reached the national semifinals last season. Next for the Gold Nuggets will be a 2 p.m. CST Tuesday home match against city rival Loyola at XULA Tennis Center. XULA is ranked fourth in the NAIA coaches poll, and the Wolf Pack are eighth.
