HAWKINS, Texas — Xavier University of Louisiana and Jarvis Christian split a Red River Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Friday. XULA won the first game 15-9, and Jarvis won the second 2-1.
The Gold Nuggets (8-8 overall, 4-6 Red River) will play Texas College in an 11 a.m. Saturday conference doubleheader at Faulkner Park.
In the opener, XULA scored six times in the seventh inning to break a tie at nine. Leading the Gold Nuggets' offense in the first game were:

Miya Covington with five RBIs and two hits.

Madison Winston with three hits, a walk and three RBIs.

Arin Dale and
Shay Angelle with two RBIs apiece.
• Angelle,
Aaliyah Brown and
Destiny Lavigne with two hits apiece. Brown scored three runs.
Ayana Acosta, Aaliyah Penalber and Nahomi Garcia had two RBIs apiece for the Lady Bulldogs (6-8, 4-8).
XULA's first-game run total was the third highest in its five-year history.
