TYLER, Texas — Xavier University of Louisiana swept a Red River Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Saturday against Texas College: 7-6 in the first game, then 11-3.
        The second game ended after six innings because of the 8-run mercy rule. The Gold Nuggets reached double-digit runs for the sixth time this season — that's twice as many times as they did in 2024.
        XULA won 3-of-4 conference games on this trip and improved to 10-8 overall and 6-6 in the Red River. Texas College is 0-14 overall and in the conference.
        The Gold Nuggets will play host to Red River opponent and NAIA No. 9 LSU-Alexandria at noon Tuesday at Regala Park in Reserve, La. Those games were moved from The Fly in New Orleans.
