        NRW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana alum Eddie Flint was announced Thursday as one of 11 finalists for the 2025 class of the Allstate Sugar Bowl's New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
        Flint graduated from XULA in 1953 and competed in football, baseball and basketball. In November he was inducted to the XULA Athletic Hall of Fame. Flint was head coach of four prep football teams that won state championships, three of them at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans (1963, 1965 and 1966).
        Flint is 94 years old and still lives in New Orleans.
        The other Sugar Bowl hall finalists are Shan Foster, Danyele Gomez, Danny Granger, Temeka Johnson, Joe McKnight, Jay Roth, Andy Russo, Will Smith, Michael Stonebreaker and Norris Weese.
        The Sugar Bowl will announce inductees in May, and the ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 2.
