       MOBILE, Ala. — Xavier University of Louisiana rallied twice in doubles and won a pair of three-set singles matches Wednesday to earn a 4-2 upset victory against Southeastern (Fla.) in the second round of the UTR NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship.
       The Gold Nuggets (14-10), ranked 12th in the final coaches poll and seeded 13th at the tournament, will play ninth-seeded/12th-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan in the quarterfinals at 9 a.m. CDT Thursday at Copeland-Cox Mobile Tennis Center. Admission is free for all rounds.

Mbali Langa clinched on the second singles court with her 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 victory against Isabella Bolivar Garces. Langa and
McKenna Wheatley trailed 4-1 on the first doubles court, saved a match point and won 7-6 (8-6) against Irene Lopez and Carlotta Nonnis Marzano.
       In XULA's other doubles victory,
Amira Bergaoui and
Ana Vasilis trailed 2-0 before rolling to a 6-3 decision against Garces and Irene Parigi. On the first singles court, Bergaoui defeated Marzano 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-1.
       Wheatley defeated Parigi 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
       Southeastern (18-8) was seeded fifth and ranked fourth.
