Xavier University of Louisiana's tennis teams won six championships
Saturday in the Big Easy Classic at the University of New Orleans.
XULA's
Nereo Suarez
won singles and doubles titles. He defeated UNO's Jacob Rouleau-Mailly
6-4, 7-6 (7-2) to win flight 1 singles, and he teamed with
Ivan Vazquez
for a 6-4 doubles final victory against UNO's Jerall Yasin and Beltran Fernandez.
XULA's other singles titles:

Gabriel Velez, 6-4, 6-7 (0-7), (10-7)
against UNO's Carlos Melogsa in men's flight 4.
• Martin Rivera, 6-3, 6-3
against Nicholls' Charlie DuBos in men's flight 6.
• Maja Brnic, 6-2, 6-3
against Nicholls' Aada Inna in women's flight 3.
• Anais Yakan, 6-4, 6-4
against UNO's Nouray Khaled in women's flight 5.
The Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets will travel to College Park, Ga.,
for the HBCU National Championships, a four-day event that will start Thursday
at South Fulton Tennis Center.
