MARRERO, La. — Xavier University of Louisiana
men's cross country placed third Friday out of three teams with 70 points in the
Loyola Triangular at Parc Des Familles.
Freshman
Ivory Montgomery was the first
Gold Rush finisher for the third time in as many meets. He ran 8,000 meters in 30 minutes, 2 seconds to finish
14th out of 35 runners.
Also competing for the Gold Rush were
Collin Wright, 24th in 32:08.0;
Kamal Webb, 25th in 32:12.3;
Joshua Aviles, 26th in 32:13.3;
and
Kevin Bahena, 33rd in 34:39.2.
XULA did not qualify for team scoring in the 6K women's race.
The Gold Nuggets' finishers were
Chris-Ann Edwards, seventh out of 16 runners in 27:39.9;
and
Jayda Love, 10th in 28:11.9.
Individual champions were Jace Luckoski (26:13.7) of Loyola
in the men's race and Meera Hijazi (24:49.6) of Loyola in the women's.
Loyola swept the team titles, both with a perfect 15 points.
XULA will compete Sept. 27 — one week from Saturday —
in the Nicholls Invitational at Nicholls Farm
in Thibodaux, La. The women's 5,000-meter race will start at 8 a.m., followed by the men's 4-mile race at 8:30 a.m.
