NEW ORLEANS — Two soccer home doubleheaders
and a regional tennis tournament are among the events that Xavier University of Louisiana
will compete in during the next four days.
XULA's soccer teams will open their Red River Athletic
Conference schedules against Texas College Thursday and Southwest (N.M.) Saturday at Lafreniere Park in suburban Metairie, La.
Both days the women's game will start at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 3:30.
The Gold Rush are 18th in the most recent NAIA coaches poll.
XULA will play host to the
NAIA Gulf Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships
Friday through Sunday at Thibodaux (La.) Regional Sports Complex, 55 miles southwest
of XULA. Matches will begin at 9 a.m. each day.
Women's volleyball
will travel to Mobile, Ala., for non-conference matches
Saturday at 1 p.m. against Point and 3 p.m. against the University of Mobile.
Both matches will be played at UM's Pharr Gym.
Cross country will compete Saturday morning in the
Nicholls Invitational at Thibodaux, La. The women's 5,000-meter race will start at 8 o'clock.
The men's four-mile race will begin at 8:30.
Admission will be free to all the events except volleyball.
At Mobile the tickets will cost $10, and only cash will be accepted.
Saturday will be the third time that seven XULA teams compete
on the same day. It also happened Sept. 28, 2024, and March 12, 2021.
