Xavier University of Louisiana advanced five singles players, three from the Gold Rush,
to Sunday's semifinals of the NAIA Gulf Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships.
XULA winners in Saturday quarterfinals were:
• Martin Rivera, 3-6, 6-3, [10-8]
against Our Lady of the Lake's Corentin Fusaro.
• Fourth-seeded
Ivan Vazquez, 0-6, 6-4, [11-9]
against William Carey's Simon Muntwyler.
• Second-seeded
Nereo Suarez, 6-4, 4-6, [10-6]
against William Carey's Vinh Nguyen.
• The Gold Nuggets' Maja Brnic, 7-5, 7-5
against LSU-Alexandria's Isabella Stuurman.
• The Gold Nuggets' sixth-seeded Ana Sabikova, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (9-7)
against William Carey's JiAn Kang.
bsp; Advancing to the women's doubles semifinals were the Gold Nuggets'
third-seeded
McKenna Wheatley and Brnic, an 8-4 quarterfinal winner against Our Lady of the Lake's Marie Peters and Ely Laure Ah-sou.
The tournament will conclude Sunday at Thibodaux
