Box Score 2 LORMAN, Miss. - The Xavier softball team suffered a pair of defeats at the hands of NCAA Division I opponent Alcorn State here Saturday afternoon.
The Gold Nuggets fell 8-0 and 10-2 games highlighted by decent hitting by XULA, but not quite as well-timed as needed to match the offensive output of Alcorn.
In the first game, Jada Jones and Maya Covington each went 2-for-3, with Covington adding a double. Madison Williams went 1-for-2 with a double.
In the second contest, Amaya Williams went 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Next up for Xavier will be a visit to Pineville March 6 and 7 for a three-game RRAC series with Louisiana Christian. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday. First pitch of the series is scheduled for 2 p.m.
