Women's Tennis tops latest ITA national rankings

The Gold Nuggets tennis team leapt to the top of the nation in the most recent release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national rankings.

Xavier, previously No. 4, sprang past Tennessee Wesleyan and Southeastern (Fla.), their opponent Monday morning in Lakeland, Florida.

The big news, though, was that XULA's top singles and doubles stars continued to move up in their categories.

Maja Brnic, Ana Sabikova, and McKenna Wheatley all find themselves ranked in the national top 20, with Brnic currently being ranked 8th, Sabikova 14th, and Wheatley 18th. Their teammate, Valeria Ortega, moved into the top 100 with a 65th-place ranking.

On the doubles side, Brnic and Wheatley are ranked No. 3.
