Gurgel, Yildirim tracking among SSAC statistical leaders

Two XULA Women's Soccer newcomers are showing just how well they fit in, both at Xavier and in the Southern States Athletic Conference.

Junior transfer forward Julia Gurgel currently ranks in the top 5 of a pair of key statistical categories, while freshman keeper Aylin Yildirim is now among the top 5 at her position in goals-against average.

Following last week's action, Yildirim has the SSAC's fifth-best goals-against average (1.58).

Meanwhile, Gurgel remains tied for second with three other players in game-winning goals (2), and she is now fourth in total goals scored with 10 over 9 matches.

The Gold Nuggets, who are 5-2-2 overall and 4-0-1 in SSAC play, are at home this week. They host Abrahama Baldwin Agricultural College Thursday at 1 p.m. and Wesleyan Saturday at 3 p.m. Both matches will take place in Metairie's Lafreniere Park.
