Jarryn Cleaves scored 13 points and
Dominee Matthews 12 to lead Xavier University of Louisiana to a 65-49 women's basketball victory against Concordia (Ala.) on Saturday.
The Gold Nuggets led the final 31 minutes and extended their winning streak in The Barn to 38 games. Xavier is 4-0 for the first time since the 1996-97 season.
Cleaves' 3-pointer at 6:47 of the first half closed a 10-0 run which gave Xavier a 22-12 lead. The Nuggets led 30-22 at halftime and took their biggest lead, 59-39, on Cleaves' free throw with 3:53 remaining.
Jazzlyn Prince had 15 points, seven rebounds and six steals for Concordia (5-3) but also committed nine turnovers. DeShawn Butler scored 11 points for the Lady Hornets. Santana Seay, who scored 30 Friday in a loss at Loyola, scored nine.
Xavier committed 26 fouls and 30 turnovers but limited Concordia to 24.6-percent shooting from the floor.
Xavier will play 13th-ranked Cumberland at 5 p.m. Friday in the Pops Duncan Classic at Nashville, Tenn.
