Christina Warren had season highs of 17 points and eight rebounds Monday to lead Xavier University of Louisiana to a 99-43 women's basketball victory over Concordia (Ala.) at The Barn.
Warren scored six of her points in Xavier's 27-0 run to open the game. Concordia did not score until 8:10 of the first half and trailed 49-9 at the break.
Jazmoné Kelly scored 14 points for Xavier, which is 5-0 for the first time since the 1996-97 season. Eleven Gold Nuggets scored at least five points, and
Marchelle Jones had seven assists for the second consecutive game.
Keianna Richardson scored 20 points, 16 in the second half, for Concordia (0-6). Dashawn Butler grabbed 13 rebounds for the Lady Hornets, but Xavier outrebounded Concordia 54-39.
Danielle Jones made two free throws with 2:39 remaining to give the Nuggets their biggest lead, 93-35.
Xavier won for the 82nd time in its past 85 games at The Barn, and
Bo Browder earned his 250th career victory as a college head coach. Browder is 250-97 in 12 seasons overall and 248-89 in 11 seasons at Xavier.
The Nuggets scored their most points since a 100-25 home victory against LaGrange on Dec. 16, 2000. And it was the first time since February 2001 that Xavier recorded back-to-back victories of 40 or more points. The Nuggets defeated Wiley 77-34 Saturday.
Xavier's next game will start at 7 Thanksgiving night against Texas College in the Xavier Classic at The Barn.
