Wray reaches NACAC 200 final, places fourth

     NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana track and field standout Shalysa Wray finished fourth Sunday in the women's under-23 200-meter dash at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Championships in Querétaro, Mexico.
     Wray, who was seeded ninth, produced a time of 24.39 seconds in the final. Top-seeded Angie Annelus of the United States and the University of Southern California won in 22.84.
     Wray respresented the Cayman Islands, where she was born. competed in the 100 semifinals Friday but did not reach the final. Her time of 11.93 ranked 11th out of 13 competitors.
     Wray was a XULA freshman during the spring of 2019 and helped the Gold Nuggets repeat as Gulf Coast Athletic Conference champion and place 23rd — the Gold Nuggets' best-ever finish — at the NAIA National Outdoor Championships. Wray was the only woman to earn All-America in four events at the 2019 NAIA nationals.
