Jeffries scorches way into 100-hurdle finals

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - XULA hurdler Rochelle Jeffries set a blazing pace in her race at the NAIA Outdoor Championships Thursday, punching her ticket to Friday's finals in the process.

Jeffries, one of three Xavier women in the 100-meter hurdles, ran a season-best 13.73, the fourth-best time in the NAIA and 15th-best among HBCUs this season.

As the time was second-best among qualifiers, Jeffries will run in the fifth lane in the 100-hurdle finals, which will take place at 2:30 p.m. Jeffries' run will be the last women's track performance of the year for XULA.

Jeffries' teammates also acquitted themselves well, but were not able to crack the top-8. Charieon Doxley ran a 14.16, while Jade Harris ran a 14.26.
