No. 3 XULA has NAIA's third-longest active top-25 streak

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana, despite a loss to a lower-ranked team Friday, remained No. 3 in the NAIA women's tennis coaches poll announced Wednesday.
XULA solidified its claim to No. 3 by beating two top-10 teams Saturday — Cardinal Stritch and Indiana Wesleyan — after a 4-3 loss to Union (Ky.) at the IWU Invitational.
XULA has the third-longest active streak of consecutive top-25 appearances: 75 since May 1, 2012. SCAD Savannah is first with an active streak of 129 appearances (beginning Feb. 9, 2005), and Lindsey Wilson is second with 84 (beginning April 19, 2011).
XULA (16-5) is top-seeded at the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament, which will begin Thursday at Mobile, Ala. XULA has a first-round bye and will play in the semifinals at 10 a.m. Friday.
