NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of
Louisiana volleyball's
Kendall Mack was chosen Red River Athletic Conference Defender
of the Week for Sept. 13-19.
Mack — a sophomore middle blocker
from Tyrone, Ga., and a former Sandy Creek High School and A5 South club standout — broke the school record for blocks
in a match when she produced 12 Saturday in the Gold Nuggets' 20-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-18
RRAC opening victory at Louisiana College. The previous XULA record was 10;
Mack's previous high was seven.
Through Monday's matches, Mack ranked
second in the NAIA with 1.42 blocks per set. Madonna's Emily Stewart was first with 1.43,
and Bekah Horstman of Northwestern (Iowa) was third with 1.40.
Mack is XULA's fifth this season to earn an RRAC weekly player award.
The others are
Semira Blair,
Stella Dineva,
Linda Mungai and
Vivica Price-Spraggins.
Mungai won the defensive award a week ago.
This week for XULA: Three RRAC matches in
the Dallas suburb of DeSoto, Texas — Friday at 2 p.m. against Paul Quinn, then
Saturday at 10 a.m. against Huston-Tillotson and 2 p.m. against Wiley.
