Nuggets win at Eagles; Saturday Wiley doubleheader rescheduled

TEXARKANA, Texas — Xavier University of Louisiana outscored Texas A&M-Texarkana in every quarter and produced three double-figure scorers Thursday in a 60-48 Red River Athletic Conference women's basketball victory against the Eagles.
Abryhia Irons scored a season-high 15 points for the Gold Nuggets (7-5 overall, 2-1 RRAC), and Destinee Pointer and Nia Bishop scored 10 apiece. Victory Udechi had nine points and 10 rebounds.
Irons grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds in her third double-double this season.
Naomi Tekleab, with 14 points, was the lone double-figure scorer for TAMUT (2-10, 0-3).
XULA led 34-28 at halftime, 46-37 through three quarters, then clinched the decision by outscoring the Eagles 8-0 in the first 4:45 of the final period.
"Good team win," said Bo Browder, who earned his 505th victory in 23 seasons as XULA's head coach. "Lots of players stepped up. Still lots of work to be done, but we're going to keep grinding and get it done."
XULA's Saturday RRAC home doubleheader against Wiley was rescheduled for Feb. 22 at the Convocation Center. Next for XULA will be a Monday non-conference doubleheader at Tougaloo — women's game at 5:30 p.m., men's game at 7:30.
