HATTIESBURG, Miss. —
During the first five meets of the 2022 outdoor track and field season, Xavier University
of Louisiana's women produced no qualifiers for NAIA nationals in the 200-meter
dash. But Jada McBean and Ariel Ford stepped up — and worked briskly —
to qualify in that event Friday at the Carey Last Chance meet.
McBean won the 200 in 24.63 seconds, an
A-qualifying time for nationals. Ford placed third with a B-qualifying time
of 24.78. NAIA nationals will be May 25-27 at Gulf Shores, Ala.
McBean, previously qualifed for nationals
with a B-time in the 100, won that event with another B-time, 12.12.
XULA finished fourth out of 10 teams with 41 points.
