Xavier University of Louisiana's
Bengisu Kazazlar is the
Red River Athletic Conference Setter of the Week in women's volleyball for Sept. 25-Oct. 1.
The RRAC announced Monday the award, Kazazlar's second this season.
Kazazlar, a 5-foot-9 setter
from Izmir, Turkey, ran an offense that hit .343 in two matches — a season-best .388 Saturday —
in an RRAC sweep at Texas College. Her series totals included 61 assists, 10.17 assists per set,
nine kills, three aces, 12 digs, four blocks and a .471 hitting percentage in 17 attacks.
Saturday she produced her eighth assist-dig double-double of her freshman season.
Five from XULA volleyball have won a collective nine RRAC weekly awards this season.
At least one XULA athlete was cited in each of the six weeks.
Next for XULA — 11-4 overall and the leader
in the RRAC at 8-0 — will be a two-match RRAC home series at the Convocation Center
against Huston-Tillotson: 7 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.
