Xavier University of Louisiana's
Jacobi Bain was chosen
Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week in men's tennis for March 13-19.
It's Bain's second award this season and the seventh in a row for the XULA men.
Bain is a sophomore from Nassau, Bahamas. The RRAC announced the award Tuesday.
Bain was 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles, all on the No. 1 court.
XULA won 5-2 at home against Dillard, then lost 4-3 at NCAA Division I Jackson State.
Bain in singles won 6-0, 6-2 against Pablo Martin of Dillard and 6-4, 6-3 against Francisco Vargas of Jackson State.
In doubles, Bain and
Nereo Suarez won 6-1 against Martin and Jesus Rodriguez of Dillard, then
6-0 against Jesus Gonzalez and Gokalp Ayar of Jackson State.
New ITA NAIA national rankings were announced March 15
— Bain and Suarez climbed to No. 3 in doubles.
Julius Hell,
Mathieu Strauss and Suarez also contributed to the Gold Rush streak of RRAC awards.
The Gold Rush are 13-5 and ranked ninth in the NAIA.
The next home match will start at noon CDT Saturday (April 1)
against NAIA No. 7 William Carey at XULA Tennis Center.
