Coaches poll of April 26, 2023
XULA men's tennis in final coaches poll of the season, 1999-present
NEW ORLEANS —
Xavier University of Louisiana extended a couple of men's tennis
streaks Wednesday when the NAIA announced the
its final coaches poll of 2023.
The Gold Rush — 17-6 and, for the second straight year,
an NAIA unaffiliated group tournament champion — finished at No. 7 and were in the top
10 in all eight polls of 2022.
XULA's active streaks, both NAIA bests:
• 13 consecutive top-10
appearances in the final poll of the season.
• 130 consecutive appearances
in the top 25. That streak began April 4, 2007.
And what's more, the Gold Rush are:
• In the top 10 for the 17th consecutive time
and the 100th time in the last 103 polls. Overall its XULA's 101st top-10 appearance in this sport.
• In the top 20 for the 121st consecutive time.
• In the top 15 for the 116th consecutive time.
Combined with XULA's No. 4 ranking
in women's tennis, this is the seventh consecutive season and the 10th time in
11 years that the Gold Rush and Gold Nuggets both have top-10 rankings in the final poll.
Excluding 2020 — when a pandemic
canceled U.S. college sports in mid-March — this is the first time since 2011
that the final NAIA poll of the season occurs before the national tournament.
