Mary Wilkins combined for more than half of
Xavier University of Louisiana's points Saturday in a 70-64
Red River Athletic Conference women's basketball victory against Jarvis Christian.
It was the fifth consecutive victory
for the Gold Nuggets (16-4 overall, 13-2 RRAC), who are tied for second
in the RRAC and 1 1/2 games behind leader LSU-Shreveport.
Dewitt scored 20 points —
14 in the second half — and Wilkins scored 16, her most in 31 games
in two seasons at XULA.
Zaria Harleaux scored nine points and blocked
a shot with 33 seconds remaining that prevented the Bulldogs (10-11, 6-10)
from reducing a five-point deficit.
The victory assured the Gold Nuggets
of finishing above .500 for the 23rd consecutive season.
Next for XULA will be a 5:30 p.m. Tuesday
RRAC home game against North American at the Convocation Center.
It will be a doubleheader; the XULA and NAU men will tip off at 7:30.
