NEW ORLEANS — Defending-champion Xavier University
of Louisiana women's track and field — led by repeat champions
Skylah Barton,
Kynnedy Turner and
A'Blesin Wilson and NAIA-A qualifying marks from Turner and
Jade Harris —
rolled to a 120-point lead Friday in the Red River Athletic Conference Championships at Tad Gormley Stadium.
The Gold Nuggets won 7-of-9 events and scored
177 points. Huston-Tillotson is second with 57 points, and Jarvis Christian is third with 19.
The XULA women seek their seventh consecutive conference team championship and their 10th in 11 attempts.
This is XULA's third season as an RRAC member.
The second and final day of the meet will be Saturday —
field events at 10 a.m., track events at noon. Venue address is 5400 Stadium Drive, zip 70124, and admission is free.
Barton ran 3,000 meters in 14 minutes, 24.44 seconds to repeat as champion.
Barton also won the 10,000 (58:04.65). Turner repeated in the 400 with a PR of 56.47 and an A-mark for NAIA nationals
May 22-24 at Marion, Ind. Wilson won another javelin title, this time with 28.45 meters/93 feet, 4 inches.
Harris won the 100 hurdles with an NAIA A-mark of 14.29.
The Gold Nuggets' other champions were

in the discus (PR of 37.72 meters/123 feet, 9 inches),
Kahdijah Bailey
in the triple jump (NAIA B-mark of 11.51 meters/37 feet, 9 1/4 inches) and the 3,200 relay (10:51.16).
