HAWKINS, Texas — Xavier University of Louisiana
closed the softball regular season Saturday with a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader split
against Jarvis Christian. The Gold Nuggets won the opener 8-2, then lost 2-0.
The season will continue for the Gold Nuggets (13-24 overall,
8-18 RRAC), who Friday clinched the eighth and final berth in the double-elimination RRAC Tournament at Pineville, La.
XULA will play at noon Thursday against regular-season champion and NAIA No. 1 Our Lady of the Lake (47-1) in the opening round.

Calbey Parker had three RBIs and three stolen bases in the first game
and, for the second time this season, went 4-for-4.

Caitlin Buford
and
Rayne Althaus had two hits apiece, Buford had two RBIs, and
Maia Tyler pitched a complete game.
Ariana Lezama of Jarvis Christian (11-25, 4-22) allowed
five hits, all singles, in the second-game shutout. Nahomi Garcia, the Lady Bulldogs' nine-hole hitter,
hit a two-run double in the fourth.
