NAIA No. 8 Xavier University of Louisiana opened a four-match men's tennis home stand Thursday by
defeating Hope International 4-0 — the third victory in the
last four matches for the Gold Rush.
Jacobi Bain,
Nereo Suarez and
Ivan Vazquez won in doubles snd singles
for XULA. Suarez clinched for XULA on the first
singles court with a 6-1, 6-4 victory against Reid Lizardo.
Vazquez and Gabriel Velez
defeated Ricky Lizardo and Kaito Henderson 6-2 on court two to clinch the doubles point.
Bain and Suarez beat
Reid Lizardo and Yahia Elsheikh 6-2 at No. 1 doubles,
and Bain won 6-3, 6-2 against Ricky Lizardo at No. 2 singles.
Vazquez won 6-2, 6-2
against Elsheikh at No. 3 singles.
XULA (6-6) reached .500 for the first time
in five weeks. Hope International is 5-7.
The Gold Rush will play host to SCAD
Atlanta at 2 p.m. Friday.
