Xavier University of Louisiana men's tennis defeated Ottawa (Ariz.)
4-1 Thursday in the quarterfinals of an NAIA unaffiliated group tournament.
The Gold Rush (12-8), ranked eighth in the NAIA, will play
14th-ranked Dillard at noon CDT Friday in the semifinals
at Blossom Tennis Center. The championship round will be Saturday.
OUAZ (5-11) won the doubles point,
but XULA rallied with four singles victories.
Ivan Vazquez clinched with his 6-3, 6-2 decision against
Arvid Lindblad at No. 3. That was Vazquez's 15th consecutive singles victory.
The Gold Rush seek a fourth consecutive championship
in an NAIA unaffiliated group tournament.
