NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana's Ivan Vazquez is the Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week in men's tennis for March 24-30.
        The RRAC announced Tuesday the award, Vazquez's second this season and the third of his career.
        Vazquez, a sophomore from Cadiz, Spain, was 2-0 in singles and, with Gabriel Velez, 2-0 in doubles. Vazquez's 6-0, 6-1 victory against Texas A&M-Texarkana's Sebastian Romanos improved his singles winning streak to 12 matches.
        Also during the week, Vazquez and Velez moved into the ITA NAIA national doubles rankings for the first time this season — 27th place.
        The Gold Rush will visit city rival Dillard at 2 p.m. Friday. The XULA-DU women's match was postponed. The XULA men are ranked eighth, and Dillard is 13th.
