NEW ORLEANS —
Xavier University of Louisiana women's volleyball won all three
Red River Athletic Conference weekly player awards for Sept. 8-14.
The RRAC announced Monday that XULA's
Kamea Uitenham (attacker),
Charity Metcalf (setter) and
Taylor Parker (defender) were the recipients.
It's the 24th time in 11 seasons that XULA swept the three conference weekly
awards in this sport.
Metcalf and Parker won for the second consecutive week.
Parker earned the attacker award a week ago.
Uitenham, Metcalf and Parker
were among the Gold Nuggets' leaders in their only match, a 25-18, 25-18, 25-19
home victory Wednesday against city rival Dillard.
Uitenham, a sophomore from Hutto, Texas,
and a graduate of Hendrickson High School, hit .364 with 10 kills, two aces, one block and seven digs.
Metcalf, a senior from Greenville, S.C., and a graduate of J.L. Mann High School,
had 20 assists and seven digs and ran an offense that hit .287. Parker,
a junior from Charlotte, N.C., and a graduate of Hickory Grove Christian School,
produced six blocks. It's the 30th time at XULA that the 2024 NAIA All-American
reached five blocks in a match — the 12th time she did it in a three-set match.
Uitenham won a weekly award for the first time this season and the
second time in her career. Metcalf won for the third time this season and the fourth time
in her career. Parker won for the second time this season and the sixth time in her career.
Next for XULA (10-3) will be a 6 p.m. match next Monday at Dillard.
