Gillips earns NAIA Track Athlete of Week honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced that Xavier junior sprinter Andrew Gillps is among this winners of the track and field athletes of the week. 

Gillips opened the 2026 indoor season, earning NAIA Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors after a standout sprint double at the New Orleans Triangular #2 on Jan. 9, where her took second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.32 and third in the 60 with a time of 6.76. 

Siena Heights (Mich.) sophomore Emma Stewart has been selected as the Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week following a standout performance at the Michigan Invitational on Jan. 10, 2026.

Friends (Kan.) junior Tiyna Ridge of Edmond, Oklahoma, has been named the NAIA Women's Track Athlete of the Week after delivering a season-opening performance that immediately set the national standard in the sprint events.

Dakota State (S.D.) junior Tysen Grinde from Spring Grove, Minnesota, has been named the NAIA Mens Indoor Field Athlete of the week after a dominant season-opening performance at the Mount Marty Opener on January 10, 2026, in Yankton, South Dakota.
