GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Xavier men's track team finished in the top 5 of the SSAC Indoor Championships after a flurry of success on Day 2.
The Gold Rush entered the day in 6th, but rallied around several big performances on the track and in the field.
XULA's unquestioned stars of the day were the team's 4X400 relayers, as the team of Joshua Aviles, D'Kirian Allen, Tremanie Hamilton, Karri Noel, Collin Wright Jr, and Kamal Webb took gold with a championship-heat time of 3:15.83, nearly 2 full seconds ahead of second place.
Jaheene Bell gave Xavier a silver medal in the 600-meter run with a 1:20.44 showing.
In the field, Mansur Ali, already a top-5 finisher in the weight throw, placed third in the shotput, while Ovane Williams took 4th in the high jump and 5th in the triple. Kameron Loyd added a 5th-place finish in the long jump.
A full results list is available on the Half-Mile Timing website. Next up for Xavier will be a trip to the NAIA National Indoor Meet in two weeks.
