HAMMOND, La. - The Xavier women's track and field team had a solid outing at the Andy Thiel meet, hosted by Southeastern Louisiana, the team's first outdoor meet of the season.
The Gold Nuggets took first in three events, highlighted by a win in the discus by Charity Johnson with a 38.73-meter best throw. Johnson was joined on the podium by Damysia Walls, whose 36.76-meter best effort was good for third.
Jade Harris and Charieon Doxley went 1-3 in the 100-meter hurdles in times of 14.67 and 15.14, respectively.
Harris and Doxley also earned podiums in the 400-hurdles, finishing second and third in that event. Their teammate, Madison Marshall placed fourth.
Xavier's other first-place finish came from the 4x800 relay team of Doxley, Marshall, Kayla Garrett, and Dakota West, who won in a time of 10:30.34.
The 4x100 team of Lyric Walker, London Provo, Rhianna Rerrie, and Jordyn Hentz took second in their event with a 49.13.
In the individual springs, Jordan Blair was the star, placing third in both the 200 and 400 with respective runs of 25.69 and 58.56.
Malia Jules earned a third-place finish in the 800 with a run of 2:32.46, and in the field events, Damysia Walls took second place in the shot put with an 11.71-meter effort. Walls was also fourth in the javelin.
