LAFAYETTE, La. - The Gold Nuggets track and field team proved their skill Friday and Saturday in their visit to the 2026 Louisiana Classics, which featured a loaded field of athletes, mostly from NCAA Division I schools.
The star of the meet for Xavier was Jade Harris, who earned a podium in the 100-meter hurdles, taking silver in a time of 14.39.Â
The 100 hurdles were a strength for Xavier, which landed three athletes in the top 15. Charieon Doxley was 5th with a run of 14.33, while Ariyah Edwards was 15th in a time of 15.63. Doxley was also 22nd in long jump with a 5.20-meter best.Â
Tori Robinson-Thomas, already the indoor pentathlon champion of the Southern States Athletics Conference, showed why she is successful in multi-discipline events. She took 7th in the high jump with a 5-foot-1.75 clearance, 7th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.60, and 13th in the shot put with an 11.40-meter throw.Â
London Provo had the best showing for Xavier in the field events with a 5th-place finish in the triple jump (11.06 meters).Â
Other top performers for the Gold Nuggets were Kayla Garrett with an 11th-place finish in the 800, Charity Johnson with a 17th-place finish in the hammer throw, and Jordan Blair with a 22nd-place finish in the 400.
The meet began in true Friday with four field events. On the first day, Damysia Walls was 20th in discus with a best throw of 38.50 meters and 23rd in the javelin with a 28.55-meter effort.Â
