BATON ROUGE, La. - A trio of Xavier throwers cracked the top 10 in a single event on Day 1 of the Pelican Relays on Friday.
In the women's hammer throw, Charity Johnson, Olushola Jegede, and Damysia Walls finished 6th, 7th, and 10th, respectively. Johnson's throw of 42.90 was 18th-best throw among HBCU athletes this season.
Walls and Jegede also participated in the javelin, with Walls placing 6th and Jegede 10th.
On the track, Jaelyn Mitchell earned a top-10 finish in the 200 with a run of 25.13, a top-50 time in the NAIA this season and within about a half-second of the NAIA national qualifying standard.
