BATON ROUGE, La. - A pair of Gold Nugget runners earned medals, and several others had strong showings on Day 2 of the Pelican Relays at Southern University.
Charieon Doxley took silver in the 100-hurdles in a time of 14.32, just over a tenth-of-a-second off of the NAIA national qualification standard.
Meanwhile. Chris-Ann Edwards earned a bronze in the 800 with a run of 2:24.82, a top-75 time in the NAIA this season.
In the field events, XULA's throwers were the stars. Charity Johnson and Cassie Davis went 4-5 in the discus with throws of 39.86 and 38.72, respectively. Johnson's throw ranked among the top-50 in the NAIA this season.
Damysia Walls, who placed 9th in the discus, earned fifth place in the shot put with a throw of 11.59 meters.
