Box Score METAIRIE, La. - The Gold Rush picked up a huge non-conference win here Wednesday morning, scoring with under 10 minutes to play to claim a 1-0 win over ranked LSU-Shreveport. With the victory, XULA completed the final leg of a three-game home stretch.

Xavier (2-1) took the win thanks to a late counterattack that featured new goalkeeper Lenno Schmidt connecting with freshman winger Ellison Haynes for the go-ahead goal. 

Schmidt (2-1) registered his second consecutive clean sheet, making 4 saves in the win. 

Wednesday's match was the first of three straight games for Xavier against teams ranked in the Top 25. 

Next up for the Gold Rush will be a weekend visit to West Palm Beach, Florida, and a road match against No. 15 Keiser. Match time is slated for 11 a.m., Central Standard Time, on Saturday.
