HAMMOND, La. —
Xavier University of Louisiana women's track and field, previously
qualified for NAIA nationals in the 400-meter relay,
produced another A-mark and a season-best time of 46.91 seconds Saturday
at the Southeastern Strawberry Relays.
The Gold Nuggets'
Emerald Carter, Jada McBean, Kynnedy Turner and Ariel Ford
finished third in the relay, and their time ranks fifth on the 2022 NAIA
season list. It was one of three top-five finishes
for the XULA women at this meet.
The XULA record in the women's
400 relay is 46.45, set in 2018.
Carter, already qualified for
nationals in the 100 hurdles, produced another A-mark of 14.48 and placed fourth. The time was not Carter's
season best.
Ariel Ford ran the 200 in 25.19
to finish fifth.
This was XULA's fourth meet of the
outdoor season and its final one before the Red River Athletic Conference Championships
April 29-30 in San Antonio. NAIA nationals will be May 25-27 at Gulf Shores, Ala.
