High-scoring Hibbert hauls in RRAC weekly honor

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana's Leojai Hibbert was chosen Red River Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week in women's field for April 21-27.
The RRAC announced the awards Tuesday.
Hibbert — a sophomore from St. Catherine, Jamaica, and a graduate of St. Jago High School — scored in six events at the RRAC Championships and was champion in the shot put and triple jump. She was second in the javelin and third in the 100-meter hurdles.
Hibbert led all RRAC athletes, female or male, with 39 individual points at the league meet, and she won the female high-point award for field events with 33. Hibbert helped XULA win its fourth RRAC women's team championship in as many attempts.
XULA's women and men will compete at noon Saturday in a last-chance triangular meet at Tad Gormley Stadium with city rivals Dillard and Loyola.
